Sakalava Bay is best known for its vast, shallow lagoon with turquoise waters. It’s the ideal place to learn and improve in complete safety: you can stand on the seabed across much of the spot, allowing you to focus fully on controlling your kite or sail in a reassuring environment.

For those seeking a bit more of a thrill, the spot has plenty more to offer. Just in front of the lodge, the lagoon opens out onto the reef, where regular waves form.

This unique setup allows you, depending on your ability and preferences, to stay in the calm waters to practise your manoeuvres or venture out to experience the thrills of surfing – all within sight of your bungalow.

The spot is constantly monitored by our instructors: assistance is always available on the water.

Ocean Lodge offers courses tailored to all levels, from beginners to advanced, in kitesurfing, windsurfing and wingfoiling.

Sessions are organised according to your ability, the wind conditions and your goals, with step-by-step guidance and suitable equipment.

Our instructors are IKO-certified, led by Alex, an IKO Level 3 instructor with 18 seasons’ experience at the spot. Each student receives an exclusively one-to-one lesson.

Independent Riders

Our centre offers the hire of modern, carefully maintained kit for kitesurfing, windsurfing and wingfoiling.

On-site support is included: our beach team is on hand to guide you, ensure your launches and landings are safe, and keep a constant watch over the lagoon.

Bringing your own kit? Storage is free and secure at the lodge.

Good to know → For independent riders, we also offer a downwind trip on the Emerald Sea.

Between sessions on the water

Enjoy our restaurant overlooking the lagoon

After your session, enjoy home-cooked meals and desserts created by our pastry chef. There are two menus to choose from at every meal (lunch and dinner), with no fixed meal times. You can eat whenever you get out of the water.

Water sports for children and families

Ocean Lodge also welcomes families who wish to try their hand at kitesurfing, windsurfing or wingfoiling under supervised conditions. Depending on age, ability and conditions, we guide each participant towards the most suitable discipline.

Your children will be looked after by our trusted staff during your sessions, right here at the lodge. The lagoon is shallow, with a sandy bottom and a gentle slope, and our instructors keep a constant watch.
