Our restaurant offers entirely homemade cuisine, with an on-site pastry chef and fresh, daily-caught ingredients: fish, lagoon crab, shrimp, and zebu. Our service is tailored to your sessions and the tides rather than fixed hours. You eat when you get out of the water.

Hotel and Water Sports Center Manager - IKO Level 3 Instructor

Alex, an IKO Level 3 instructor and manager of the hotel and water sports center, is originally from Toulouse.

With over 20 years of experience in kitesurfing, he was among the first to develop and teach wingfoiling in Madagascar.

Having lived in Sakalava Bay for over 18 years, he now uses his in-depth knowledge of the spot to provide clients with safe and personalized instruction.

Founder of the Ocean Lodge - Swiss Federal Certified Instructor

Thierry, a native of Switzerland, is the founder of Ocean Lodge and a Swiss federally certified instructor who has always been passionate about water sports.

He enjoys sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and wingfoiling, and founded Ocean Lodge in 2018 with a simple idea: to offer well-organized, personalized, and stress-free kitesurfing trips in the exceptional setting of Sakalava Bay.

The 2022 Festikite women’s slalom champion and a passionate kitesurfer, Florine has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry in Madagascar.

She mentors and trains the teams to ensure a high standard of service.

Nono, Vince, Félicien, Brice, and Moustapha make up the team at the Ocean Lodge water sports center.

The team consists of IKO-certified instructors and experienced assistants who practice kitesurfing, windsurfing, and wingfoiling.

Skilled instructors who are attentive and passionate, they’ll support you throughout your stay—whether you’re just starting out, looking to improve, or need assistance on the water.

Ocean Lodge, along with the Lakana Hotel, is a member of the Madasource association: it covers the tuition and school supplies for 74 children in Diego-Suarez and supports a school in Ramena.

Directions & Transfers

Directions and Transfers from Diego-Suarez and Nosy Be

Ocean Lodge is located in Sakalava Bay, about 20 km from Diego-Suarez, in northern Madagascar. From Arrachart Airport, the drive takes 40 to 45 minutes (starting at €25 one way).

If you’re arriving via Nosy Be, we’ll arrange a combined private transfer—first by boat shuttle, then by 4×4—to the lodge (starting at €160 per person, based on two people). You’ll arrive that same evening, and a meal will be waiting for you.

What is the difference between a bungalow and an eco-chalet?

The bungalows are more spacious, with a terrace facing the lagoon, and accommodate 2 to 5 people: ideal for couples and families. The eco-chalets are more compact, with a small terrace and high-quality bedding; the bathrooms are located outside. They are suitable for solo travelers or pairs.
